As we’ve reached the midway point of season 3, I thought we might take an intermission and review the familiar faces of The Crown. This is for all those times you’ve been watching the show and wondered, “now where have I see them before?”
- Jared Harris as King George VI and Lane Pryce in Mad Men
- John Lithgow as Winston Churchill and Dick Solomon in 3rd Rock from the Sun
- Harriet Walter as Clementine Churchill and…what has she not been in? But I think I remember her most as Fanny Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility
- Matt Smith as Prince Philip and the Doctor on Doctor Who
And now for a sub-group of Downton Abbey recruits:
- Matthew Goode as Antony Armstrong-Jones and Henry Talbot
- Henry Hadden-Paton as Martin Charteris and Bertie Pelham
- Kate Phillips as Venetia Scott (tragically lost in the Smog episode of season 1) and Princess Mary (from the Downton movie)
- Harriet Walter was also in Downton as Henry Talbot’s aunt,
Lady Shackleton

And as a special bonus round…it’s a short road from Westeros to Buckingham Palace.
As casting director for both shows, Nina King hired several actors from Game of Thrones to appear on the The Crown
- Charles Dance as Lord Mountbatten and Tywin Lannister
- Anton Lesser as Harold Macmillan and Qyburn
- Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip and Edmure Tully

THE CROWN
- Stephen Dillane as Graham Sutherland and Stannis Baratheon
- Rupert Vansittart as Cecil King and Lord Yohn Royce

The Crown
- And a deep cut: Julian Glover as Cecil Boyd and Grand Master Pycelle
